The Archive in the Attic
History is rarely found in the tidy pages of textbooks. More often, it is found in the margins of old journals, in forgotten telegrams, and in the quiet memories passed down through generations.
A war correspondent, explorer, and linguist, Saturnino Ximénez Enrich (1853–1933) operated at the heart of the geopolitical shifts of the late nineteenth century. For decades, his life remained a collection of family anecdotes—a shadowy figure who navigated the complexities of Spain, the Mediterranean, and Central Asia.
Guiomar Bruidegom founded the Saturnino Ximénez Files to transform these archival fragments into a cohesive narrative. By blending meticulous primary-source research with the pacing of the modern historical thriller, Guiomar explores the “what if” found in the gaps of the official record.
